HKC Round 2 – Rye House
March 2nd 2014
After opting to drop round 1 from the championship, this was the first race of the season for Chris. Today marked the start of his second karting season and his first full season off of novice plates.
Today was the biggest Junior max grid we have seen for a very long time. 24 Drivers had entered this race which would prove to be very busy indeed.? Heat 1 was wet and a bit of a lottery. Chris started well but lost ground as the track started to dry finishing mid-pack. Changeable conditions continued throughout the day with the boys needing different setups as the day went on.
The final saw Chris start towards the back of the grid. As the race started, Chris was immediately pushed off the track into the tyre barriers by another driver. He was now last (24th). He managed to pull his kart back on track and continue, by which point he was not only last but half a lap down on the pack. Chris put in a series of stunning laps to not only catch the pack but finish 15th. This was the best he has driven to date. We intend to build on this in our continual pursuit to the front of the grid.
