OEKC Round 4 – Lydd
June 22nd 2014
This round saw us well prepared after a good test. We thoroughly tested engines and other parts which found some good results and more speed.
We were like clockwork this race. Well prepared, well drilled, calm and confident. Qualifying was very entertaining. We were swapping positions with Box and Specsavers but managed to get pole by a tenth of a second. The top three teams were split by two tenths of a second.
As the race started we had some pressure from box but eventually started to increase the gap. After the first hour we were lap in front of second position and lap in front of third position. Our problem at this point was fuel. Unknowingly, we were using more fuel than our two main rivals. We had to pit earlier than the others and coupled with an average stop saw us eventually position second on the track. We chased down Box and spent much of the next stint fighting for position. At this point we were four laps ahead of forth place. Towards the end of the race we made our final stop, which the others did not need. We came home in third position which was a well needed result but we can’t help feeling we lost a win. We will be looking at fueling for the next round.
We are now half way through the season and have jumped up from 16th in the championship to 7th from 29 teams.
