19th April

After winter testing Ikonn racing started the season fresh and ready to build on the successes of last year. Unfortunately, it would seem our luck was not ready for this. Our opening Rotax endurance round on the 19th April saw the team qualify a solid 7th , only to get pushed off track in the first corner of the first lap! We clawed our way up to 10th but the damage sustained in the incident meant we had to retire 14 laps from the end.

Meanwhile in Formula Kart Stars, Reece was rearing to go when a technical ruling meant he could not run his new 09 spec engine until the forth round of the championship. Winter testing showed Reece 0.5s per lap quicker than the older engine and 0.2s per lap quicker than the nearest challenger.

This was a serious blow to the championship challenge. Our Club 100 team did not escape the bad luck either! A tyre failure on lap 5 meant a change of kart which stopped any serious challenge for a good result in round 1.
